Ming is a premier “Stat-Stick” Support in Honor of Kings. He functions as a force multiplier, tethering himself to a teammate to grant them massive offensive or defensive buffs. Playing Ming effectively requires excellent positioning to maintain the link while managing your own health as a resource.
Skill Breakdown
Passive: Good Omens
- The Mechanic: Every 5 seconds, Mingโs next basic attack becomes long-range, deals bonus magic damage, and spawns a “Blood Orb.”
- Healing: This orb heals both Ming and his linked ally.
- Tip: Even as a support, keep auto-attacking! The healing from your passive is essential for keeping your marksman in the lane without needing to recall.
Skill 1: Time โ Carefree (Link Ally)
- The Buff: Links Ming to an ally, granting them a massive boost to their Primary Attack (Physical or Magic) and Attack Speed.
- Passive Bonus: Just having this skill gives Ming permanent bonus damage and movement speed.
- Tip: This is your default state. Stay linked to your strongest damage dealer (usually the Marksman or Jungler) to help them snow-ball.
Skill 2: Mastery โ Glide (Link Enemy)
- The Debuff: Links Ming to an enemy, reducing their Physical and Magic Defense. It also reveals their vision (even in bushes).
- Passive Bonus: Grants Ming bonus Physical and Magic Defense.
- Tip: Use this when an enemy assassin dives your carry. Weakening their defenses makes it much easier for your ally to shut them down.
Ultimate: Peace โ Longevity
- The Transfer: After a short delay, Ming sacrifices a portion of his own HP to either deal True Damage to a linked enemy or provide a massive Burst Heal to a linked ally.
- The “vampire” Effect: If he is linked to both an enemy and an ally simultaneously, he drains HP from the enemy to heal the ally. Ming recovers his spent HP slowly over 5 seconds.
- Tip: This has a cast time! Don’t wait until your ally has 1% HP to use it, or they might die before the heal lands.
Core Gameplay Strategy
| Phase | Strategy |
| Laning | Stay tethered to your Marksman. Use Skill 1 to help them clear waves and poke. Use your passive auto-attack whenever it’s charged to keep both of you healthy. |
| Teamfights | Position yourself behind your carry. Your job is to be a human battery. If an enemy gets too close, swap the link to them using Skill 2 to shred their armor. |
| Emergency | If your ally is about to drop, fire your Ultimate immediately. Be careful, as this leaves you at low health for a few seconds. |
Counter Matchups
| Counter Hero | Why they win |
| Cai Yan | Her “Bouncing Bullet” stun is a nightmare for Ming. Since Ming must stay close to his ally to keep the link active, Cai Yanโs stun will bounce between them constantly, locking them both down. |
| Guiguzi | He can go invisible and pull both Ming and his linked ally together into a single spot, setting up an easy AoE wipe for his team. |
How to Play Against Ming:
- Break the Link: Use knockbacks or high mobility to move away from Ming. If the distance gets too great, the link breaks, and the buff disappears.
- Focus Ming First: Ming makes his ally very strong, but Ming himself is often fragile. If you kill Ming, the “battery” is gone, and the carry becomes vulnerable.
- AoE Damage: Since Ming and his ally usually stand near each other, use area-of-effect spells to hit both targets at once.
